Bighorn Management in Alberta

What do you think about bighorn sheep management in Alberta? My April 2013 feature in Alberta Outdoorsmen caused quite the stir among hunters and government officials. It is available digitally at http://www.albertaoutdoorsmen.ca/digital/in...dex.html

Note: if you want to read it digitally without taking out a digital subscription, click on the 'Now Available' button and then the 'Inside' button on the magazine cover, and from the index click on the feature "United We Stand, Divided We Fall". You are allowed to read 5 pages without subscribing.

When Not to Shoot

As important as knowing when to pull the trigger is knowing when not to shoot http://www.westernsportsman.com/2011/08/when-not-to-shoot/

Outdoor Writers of Canada Awards

I just got back from the Outdoor Writers of Canada conference in Campbell River, British Columbia and was fortunate enough to win several awards in the National Communication Awards. I took first place in the Ducks Unlimited Wetland Appreciation Award for a column titled "Wetland Bonanza" that appeared in The Outdoor Edge, first place in the Magazine Feature, Other category for a feature titled "Bushed" that appeared in Alberta Outdoorsmen and third in the Brock McRitchie Award for a feature titled "What Little Girls are Made of" that appeared in Alberta Outdoorsmen.

Vanessa also took home some bling with a third place finish in the Magazine Feature, Hunting category for a feature that appeared in Safari magazine titled "Too Close for Comfort"

It was a great conference with some awesome craft improvement sessions, a little time for some fishing and a fun range day that put over 30 guns in my hands including some exciting new stuff from Para Ordinance, Bushmaster and Remington.
